11:22 am - Happy Birthday?
Well, I haven't updated in a while, and I was 'nudged' to do so. Anyway... here I am, still alive and kicking.

Just older.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, my birthday was back on Monday. I'm 24 yrs old now. With the grey hair of a 40 year old, but hey. That's life, right?

So how did I celebrate my birthday? I went on vacation. I don't go on vacation very often, so it was grand. Cat and I went out east to a little hotel on Star Island in Montauk Harbor. We were one of three of four guests in the entire place. Cozy. A little cold, windy, but all in all, it was nice. Beautiful scenery out there. I finally got to Montauk, and I climbed the lighthouse and walked over to the beach where the true 'end' of the island was. After that, we went out and spent some money.. which is always fun. Cat bought 'the greatest chair ever.' and some pillows. We ate a whole bunch, and came home with 3 meals worth of left overs.

On monday Cat's parents took me out to dinner, and Cat and I made cookies. Then we put gingerbread cookies that spelled 'happy birthday' on my cake. We also frankensteined a dragon cookie, out of a dinosaur and a bat.

Got a few Warhammer pieces, a few movies, some cash, and a couple packages of cookies. Yum.

And that, ladies and germs, was my bithday, in all it's glory.

7:58 pm - Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came...
And so I have finally finished the Dark Tower saga. I ripped through 843 pages in just a bit under 96 hours, which is impressive, even for me.

And I have to say, I approve.

Oh, there was plenty near the end that made me want to stop reading. Or worse, burn the massive book. But there, in the very last pages, it's end seemed perfect.

Ka is an intresting thing. It brought this book to me, when I thought I'd have to wait for Pub to finish hisown copy, to borrow his. But sure enough, the book arrived on my door step, and my Lady told me to open the package.

And now I'm done. I need something new to read. But I can now say simply:

Long days and plesant nights. Thankee, Sai King.

9:15 am - Fire Truck!
So I was at Cat's for the weekend. And what a weekend it was, I've gotta say.

Friday was a day of hell at work. I ended up spending most of the day up in marketing, breaking my ass because the new sales bulletin and pricelist had to be done by 4pm. Well, we got it done at 3:45, then had to burn dvds, print a copy out, and ship it off Fed Ex next day... it got done around 4:20. Kerri plopped into her chair to nap until 5pm... i was told 'good, now that your done, catch up all the work Maria couldn't do. Start with this 16 page order'.

I was pissed.

Left at 5 on the dot, and in a really bad mood, spent the next hour in traffic on the LIE. Met the girlfriend at her job, and then we went to Borders so I could grab a couple new paperbacks (Drenai Saga, in case anyone is curious). Then to Panera, so I could finally try the food there. Breadbowl = yummy.

We got home, ate our food, and then proceeded to do very little else that night. Just hung out, and crashed around 9. Cat had to be at work early the next morning.

Next morning, Cat left for work around 8:15 (told you she had to leave early!) I was left at the house all day. Hooked up her new printer, played Kingdom Hearts, and read some of the novels that I bought. Then at 5, I left, meeting Cat at the train so we could go into the city for Lockheed's birthday.

I expected a bigger place, but I have to say the cuban food wasn't bad. I got to eat my fill of rice, which is always a plus. Long train ride, but Pub showing up and driving us from Penn was a nice surprise. And his car's pretty sweet. We went over to a place called Cosi after, and stuffed our face with smores and brownies and such. Then Cat and I left, and spent 1.5 hrs on the train coming home. And then we slept, from like 1am until 10.

Sunday we had breakfast, cleaned her room a little, and just basically bummed around. Ended up running a little late for her big family bbq.

Now that was something. Cat's mother has 5 siblings... all six children, and their mother were all at this bbq. I got to meet Cat's uncle Ricky, who's the final 'approval or else' member of her family. And he didn't kill me, which is good. I ate a LOT (2 hamburgers, 3 brachwurst with onions, and a spicy chicken sandwhich, for those keeping score), and went through like 4 cans of soda. By the end of the day everyone was a bit tipsy, except for me, the non-drinker, and Cat, because they forgot to bring her bottle of Malibu. The uncles ended up in a pissing contest... not literally, but they started seeing who could do the most chin ups, push-ups, etc... which usually ended up with Ricky hurting himself.

So yeah. Drunken goodness.

Cat and I left around 7, drove home, got some ice cream, and then crashed for the rest of the night. We spent a quiet evening of reading and chatting and such. Had a little tiff, but everything was worked out by the time I left around 10.

And now I'm here. At work. I refuse to post MORE complaints online about that. Argh.

10:01 am - Cat says I'm due for an update...
...and since I'm the bitch devoted boyfriend, I shall be happy to oblidge.1

The last week has been a bit of everything. In fact, the last two weeks have been. Lockheed and Myn went out to Seattle to go get married (for more info, click 'friends' and read Lockheed's journal... since I'm too lazy). But more importantly... I was housesitting. Two weeks of checking the mail, watering plants (most of them), and -brace yourself- watching the cats, Angel and Devil. Cat and I spent some time there, just as a place to veg out, alone, without worrying about parents and stuff. Plus we got to abuse their Xbox. And yes, after a few weeks of taking care of the cats, plus Cat's kitten patches... ya know what? I think I'm slowly becoming a cat person. Who knows... maybe I'll get one for myself, when I finally move out.

Other than that, the last week was fairly uneventful... at least as far as those who are reading this are concerned. I've been getting ready for the faire, spending lots of time with Cat (getting in as much time as possible before she starts school again), and swimming through work. Orders are being their same, annoying fashion. And Maria remains an idiot.

Mechwarrior has finally ended. At least, for me and Pubby. I came in dead last in the tournament, after winning the first one. Mr C was shocked and apalled, and told me he had to 'sit me down' and explain tactics to me about everything. Woohoo. (insert sarcasm here) That means that on thursdays, we'll go back to playing Pubby's D&D game. However, after the insanity of last time around, this time I won't be allowed to play 'kill the party'. Instead, I'm making a top secret character, which I've worked on with Pub for a while. I've also been working on Carrie's cahracter, so that she can focus on rp'ing, rather than making up a sheet of stats. She's a stupid, scary, shoot-the-wings-off-a-fly archer. Fun fun.

I think that just about covers it. If I forget anything... it doesn't matter, since you if you know I forgot anything, you didn't need to read about it! hahahah! (or as Cat would say, teehee!)

Anyway, tonight I go to the movies with Cat. It's our one month anniversary (which, I've been informed, I'm silly for caring about... but tough!), and we're going to the movies with Myn, Lockheed, Pub, Becca, and Carebear. Party!

yeah. I'm done. Out.

1Just kidding. Let the record show that I'm the happiest I've been in a rediculously long time.

3:46 pm - I wonder how much my car is worth totalled...
So the dealer just called me. I had taken my car in for yet more work on it... (last week I got it back, after having all the work on the side door repaired.) The A/C had died on me, and I was hoping it was just a fan motor or something, which the warranty would cover. When I dropped the car off this morning, I was informed that I'm overdue for my 30,000 mile overhaul... a process which would run my car appx $500. I told them not right now, just check out the A/C.

They just called me back, and said that the compressor on the A/C is shot, and it's a result of the accident I had 2 years ago when I hit a telephone pole, and technically it was a bad repair job by the body shop. Because the car has been worked on, the warranty won't cover that, because I caused the damage.

Total estimate for damage, about $500.

So, that's $500 last week. $500 this week (if I so choose, right now I'm driving around w/o A/C again), and another $500 when I get the scheduled maintenance. $1500 worth of repairs on my car... plus $40 worth of gas a week, and $330 in insurance a month.

*runs over his own foot*

So as I mentioned in my last entry, the weekend kind of didn't go as planned. But did, also. Does that make any sense?

1:23 pm - Because our horoscope said so...
If you're still not ready to leave the house, don't. Wherever you were planning to go will still be there later -- but you want to ensure that your companion will be, too. Don't jump the gun.

So we didn't go to the city. Just a long weekend of doing nothing. Yay.

9:39 am - One night only...
Alright, actually Chris was back in town for more than one night... but not much more than that. He came back into town wednesday night, and he's leaving again sometime on tuesday. But he missed everyone so he came by to say hi to everyone. Even Debbie showed up.

Last night we all went to Karaoke. The list was pretty impressive, though not as impressive as how many we thought would show up:

Two of Lizzie's friends.

Rich, Karen, Paul, and the other Paul were all supposed to make an apperance. Rich and Karen got lost and so never made it. When Carrie, me, and Cat left, Paul had yet to arrive. Navy Paul never made it into town by friday night. He was missed.

It was a fairly fun night. Cat and I never really left our booth, but we were social enough as people ran around near us. :) Debbie did her drinking, but for the most part was pretty nice. Erick and Doug were their usual, even singing in tandem for once... It wasn't bad (and yeah, I know, I shouldn't talk until I start to actually sing... but this is my journal, damnit). We missed Chris bark his band, because my ladies both were under the weather and had work in the morning. Oh well, I'll make him sing for me next time. *evil cackle here*

I think that about covers it. I'm taking Cat somewhere evil this weekend... she's not allowed to know where. Ha ha!

In other news, today was Cat's bbq. Carrie and I stayed over earlier, in order to help her get ready. We (Cat) spent ALOT of money on alcohol, and food. But it all went great. We hung out for hours, Pub came out too. It was all pretty cool. The BBQ was a smashing success.

Yay for Cat's bbq.

10:01 am - Musings of the Black Mage...
First off... No Liz, it's not Blue. Black Mage, damnit!

Second off... yes, I really like the subject line of this entry... I think I'm going to rename my entire journal to that. It sounds like a bad column in a paper... I can see it now:

Coneria Times: Vol XXXIV, Issue 13.
Musings of a Black Mage.

Yeah, has a nice ring to it.

Anyway, on to the venting!

Ever have a day where you wake up and you're in pain? And I'm not talking about 'ow, that hurts from where she bit me a few days ago'... no, I'm talking about pain where you really have no idea where it came from, no idea what you did, no idea where that large bruise came from.

well, that's me today. Sure, the bites hurt, and that's unexpected, but hey, it's known at least. But my left leg feels like I pulled something, and my back is hurting. There is no reason for this much pain unless it involves a day at the gym (where I don't go) or a kinky night in (no luck, so far).

Bring on the aspirin, damnit.
And on another topic all together... Here I am at work. God I hate this job. I won't get into all the whys about why I hate it, but needless to say, I'm looking through classified lists every day, trying to find a new job to go to. Annnnnyay. I'm sitting in my cubicle, when Toni starts talking about a call she just got. 'Ask me if I care that this woman's product is broken. She's not one of our customers.'

Hello? We're supply wholesalers. We sell to distributors. Guess who they sell to? If it weren't for their customers... what happens to us?!?!?!?!?!?

Sigh. I hate stupid people. Wizard's First Rule.
In other news, I told Aurora about my dream about the woman in black. She was suitably wierded out.

My job is done here.

8:46 am - Where to begin?
It was a fun weekend. Granted, it wasn't how the weekend was planned to go, but it was still a fun weekend.

Alright, on second thought, the second half of the weekend was fun.

Lockheed's bachelor party was friday night. Got into the city around 7:30, walking from Penn with Pubby. My umbrella broke, but luckily the rain always was about 4 steps behind me, the entire night. we ended up at a bar near Penn, where Lockheed ate a plate of nachos that could feed cambodia, and some other food went around. and in honor of the man, I even had myself a drink. *shush!* From there we went to Lace. I've never claimed to be much for strip joints (in fact, I claim exactly the opposite), but from what I've heard, Lace wasn't a strip joint. It was a lapdance parlor.

I'll spare everyone the greusome details. I left $100 poorer, mostly from one whore that decided to ask for money after the fact... when you couldn't say anything about it. Rath did. Good guy. I had already left, by Lockheed informed me that the gang made enough of a stink that the girl was last seen gathering her stuff and running away. Pubby has volunteered to go back every week and make sure she's gone. Noble sacrifice.

Saturday then rolled around. I got like no sleep after getting home from the city. Perhaps four or 5 hours, with wake ups in the middle. Not very restful. Ran around for a bit, cleaned up my room since I was having house guests, and then ended up at Carebear's to help her dress for Ritual. (I ended up wearing my black mandarin... and was later asked if I was an exorcist)

We then went to Myn and Lockheed, and Carebear was further outfitted with one of Myn's corsets. She looked amazing. Thanks Myn! I was also informed that I have to kill Lockheed for his coat, since it's my size. Exactly.

From there, off to Lee's. Game was game, fairly informal. We managed to get a little bit done, and called it early, because we were about to end up in a mass combat. MASS combat. While we were playing, Cat called, and asked me to pick her up on the way to the club.

We never got there.

First off, Erick, my apologies. We did want to go. Hell, you saw me dressed for it. When I got to Cat, she was with some old friends, and they were all bowling. By the time the game ended, it was almost 12:30 (10 people bowling = long game). By the time we get to Cat's house, she changes, then drive out to Ritual, it was 2. Just didn't work. We were both upset about it. Next time, for your birthday?

Ended up crashing around 3 am. I had been evicted from my bed, and so slept on the floor. By 9:30 in the morning, we were off to IHOP. Cat can say she hates Nassau all she wants... we have lots of IHOPs. After that, we ended up at Tri-County so she could browse. Woke Carebear up, and then got ready to go home... but called Pubby first to see when Carebear was picking him up from the train. He was already in town, so Cat and I got him instead.

Game was very informal. This turned into the last week of basically just finishing set up and such. I ended up curled up with Cat most of the time, occasionally answering questions and reading book stuff, while Pubby did alot of the work. Thanks Pub. I'll make it a real game next week. Jupiter made brownies... those were so good. Yum. All in all, it was just a really fun hang-out day. I liked it.

The 'game' begin to break up, so Cat, Pubby, and I went for dinner. Chinese! I actually didn't eat much. Which amazes me. I'll have to make up for it soon by going back. From there we went and dropped Pubby off at the train, and I drove Cat home. Helped her clean her room a little and hang laundry. Around 10 we had said good night, and I half floated, half-flew home.

And that brings us to today. Consider yourself all updated now.

Oh, and a word from our sponsors: Normally I have nothing agaist a person's vices. But I have to say: Just say no. This weekend has had too much crap being dealt out because of drugs for me to say otherwise.

Long days, Pleasant nights.

8:21 am - God Bless America!
Usually I leave political updates to the twins, but as I was driving to work today, I realized that I just -had- to post this one... because it's so damn true.

Dave Ross, a columnist who reports on News Radio 880, which I listen to in the morning, gave a lovely review of the 9/11 commission's findings today:

The US needs to create a Cabinet-level position to fire.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, that's exactly right. The only way to make sure that all of the intelligence community will be accurately coordinated, is to create a position, fill it, and then tell that person that their job is now on the line.

The US needs someone to blame.
